After a long bus ride, we finally made it to Paris! We left at 7:30 this morning from Ambialet, and arrived in Paris around 5. The bus ride wasn't too bad. I slept most of the way here. We are staying in an international dormitory, and it is really big. I am in a two person room with Jen. The room is like a typical hotel room.
After getting settled in to our rooms and eating dinner, we took the metro to the Eiffel Tower!!! It was so amazing to see! By the time we got to the Eiffel Tower, it was dark out, so we got to see it lit up. Katie, Francie, Jen and I waited in line to buy tickets to go to the top of the tower. We ended up waiting about half an hour, and it was worth it! The view at the top was incredible and I got some really good pictures! We considered taking the steps up to the top, but then decided that is was way to far, so we took the elevator. It first took you halfway up, where you could get off and take some pictures. Then it went up the whole way to the top. The view at the top was breathtaking. We got to see some of the sights from the top of the Eiffel Tower that we will be visiting in the next couple of days. One of the most interesting things to see was when the Eiffel Tower "sparkled" every hour, on the hour. Another thing I found interesting was that they had the direction of the U.S. posted and how far away it was, so it was like you were looking in the direction of the U.S. from the top of the Eiffel Tower.
After the Eiffel Tower, it was getting late, so we came back to the place we are staying. On our way back, we stopped at a vendor along the street and got homemade filled doughnuts! I got a caramel filled one..delicious! We haven't had time to explore much more of the city yet, since most of the day was gone until we arrived in Paris, but I already know I am going to love Paris! Seeing the Eiffel Tower was my favorite part of my trip to France so far! We have a busy day tomorrow of museums and other things to do in Paris! Normally the study abroad students spend 20 days in Paris, but we are only here for 5. Needless to say, they have those 5 days packed full with activities. We have to be ready to leave tomorrow at 9:30, so I need to go and get some sleep. I will mostly likely have another blog tomorrow evening about my day tomorrow.
Good Night! Miss you all!
