Today was our first "field trip" to Toulouse and I really enjoyed my day. If you have been following my previous blogs, let me tell you that once again the alarm clock did not go off when we had set it. Luckily we had someone come on us to make sure we were up this time (Thanks Francie and Katie!). We left Ambialet around 9 this morning and began our journey to Toulouse. In Toulouse we went to four different places including Saint Sernin Basilica, Saint Raymond's Museum, a Dominican Church that holds the remains of Saint Thomas Aquinas, and the house of Saint Dominic.
We were given an hour and a half of free time to get something to eat. We went to a small cafe in the city. The waiter spoke mostly French, but did know a little English. Ordering was very interesting. We all ordered the plat du jour, which included a main course and dessert. My main course was beef with a creamy garlic sauce, salad, and ham, broccoli, and cheese casserole. for dessert I had the most amazing thing I have ever tasted...a caramel crepe.
Tomorrow we go to Albi for French class for the first time. After class have lunch at the university, then take a walking tour of the city of Albi. Then, we go to town hall to be welcomed by the mayor.
I hope everyone at home is enjoying the snow that you got today!
