To get up the hill to the Sacre Coeur Basilica, we took the fenicular, which is an incline metro car. Before getting on the fenicular, we saw a band playing on the street. They sounded awesome and there was a large crowd gathered around them! Katie and I started dancing crazily (as we always do) and a bunch of people were watching us....good times!
Once we rode the fenicular up the hill, we went inside the Basilica, which was really pretty. The outside of Sacre Coeur was really also really pretty and something to see. We also got to see a very good view of the city from the Basilica. It was such a gorgeous afternoon for the most part and was a warm day in the sun. The sky was a really pretty blue color, as you can see in the pictures. It has now clouded over and rained a little bit in the late afternoon.
There was this man who was painted to look like a stature standing outside the Basilica, and Morgan and I got our picture with him!
After leaving Sacre Coeur, we didn't have to be anywhere until 4 PM, when we went to the art workshop of painter Jean Serolle. His work was really interesting and it was really neat to get to talk to the artist.
As you can see, it was a much less busy day than the past two have been in Paris. It was nice to have more time to ourselves today and more time to relax after a busy morning. I am going to take a short nap before dinner, then who knows what we will get into this evening. It shouldn't be hard to find something to do. After all, we are in Paris, having the time of our lives!
