Barcelona, Primer día

What an exciting day the first day in Barcelona was!!! We arrived in Barcelona around 12:30 this afternoon. We are staying at a hostile in the city, where I am rooming with 6 of my friends. The first thing we did this afternoon was go to a buffet and get lunch. We then had free time, so we shopped and walked around the city. Later this afternoon we went to La Pedrera, which is a great civil work built by Gaudi in 1905-1910. We toured the inside of La Pedrera and went to the museum there. Normally you can go onto the roof and where you can see a fantastic view of the city, but we could no go onto the roof today because it was raining.

For the rest of the afternoon and evening, we had free time. My friends and I got a 3-day subway pass so we took the subway to La Rambla. We got to see the Mediterranean Sea, and we all stuck our hands in the water. The water was warm and was very blue and clear. The city around the sea is absolutely beautiful! The lights of the city at dusk reflected on the water. It was a rainy day in Barcelona, but was still very pretty! We plan to go to the beach over the weekend, when the weather is supposed to be really nice.

After catching a subway back to the part of the city where we are staying, we went to a restaurant across from the hostile for dinner. It was called Tapa Tapa. We got many different tapas that we shared between the six of us. We had chicken, shrimp, mussels, risotto, Mediterranean salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, potatoes, and dessert tapas. I got creme brulee for dessert. We also shared a pitcher of sangria between us. Needless to say, dinner was very delicious!

We are now back at the hostile for the night. We have a full day tomorrow of exploring Barcelona. We are going to Sagrada familia, one of Gaudi's most famous works in Barcelona. The weather is supposed to be really nice for the rest of our time here.

I have many more pictures uploaded onto my Facebook page of my Barcelona adventures so far, so you can see many more on there. Stay posted for more Barcelona pictures and blogs soon!
